Welcome to CT cleaves. You might be better off posting this in World Coins as more qualified members might see it.

Play nice, this is their first post. They may not know about numista or how to find answers on the internet. Remember we are here to help. When a member keeps posting the same questions over and over and over again, then you can call them out. LOL

unfortunately i don't have scales but I'll be sure to grab a set and weigh it up. Also my skins a bit tougher than that all good no offence taken. I know about a days worth of information on coin collectables so it's all new to me.

when my grandfather passed away 20 years ago he left a bunch of old coins in my mothers possession. She's aloud me to sort through them and basically do what i want with them.

I talked to someone with the same circumstances. The grandfather served in WWII and parachuted into enemy territory in Europe. He was given a gold coin to use for barter if he separated from his fellow soldiers. It was a coin very much like the one you have.

Using your fingers on a coin like that is not a good idea. Eventually it will deteriorate the coin. Nice coin and welcome to CT.
