Nice woodie pattern. Worn and either corrosion or a staining of some sort. Should be of interest to any avid woodie collector. Good find!
No that's whats left of the peel. Just about 99.9 % of the lamination peel is gone. Like a split platchet. Very cool find.
Very nice woodie pattern but there is something going on near the rim. It’s worth very little but more than face. Welcome to CT.
Red book has an lamination error Lincoln cent worth $3 thats about 300 x's face... Yor can see the original skin at the top as well as in the 49 of the date. Again not a huge find but a very cool find many have over looked.
It’s difficult to say from the only photo we have but it looks like it certainly could be. Don’t you agree? The surface doesn’t appear smooth to me and a woodie would be smooth.
The Mysterious Case of the Wanabe Woodie. Yes, it would be smooth…the alloy is finished on the woodie. This is rough and striated = lamination issue.
That’s what it looks like to me but with only an obverse photo, not being very clear and on the small side it’s hard to tell for sure.
..and being an (alleged) very thin layer that has peeled…the remnant left under IGWT. The missing (peeled) layer accentuates the perceived amount of wear.
