    Ended up winning a AV Solidus (Bare Nostum Hoard 1954) for 2K in ROMA AUCTION 23926.1.19_1.jpg

    Struck in Constantinople 475/76AD

    Basiliscus and son Marcus 475/6

    obv: Pearl-diademed/ helmeted/ cuirassed bust facing/ hold spear over L shoulder/ and shield

    rev: Emperor/ Son seated/ facing on a double throne/ each nimbate holding mappa and orb/ field between cross and star above

    Seems poor Basiliscus and Marcus where sent to Limnae in Cappadocia/ Zeno then had them "starved to death" Zeno was not not a nice guy.......

    Congrats on a very tough acquisition!

    It always amazes me the gap in the quality between lage 5th century AE versus AV

    Only Basiliscus I'm likely to have until the coin market cools down:

    Sorry for the off topic posts, but when it comes to this class of coins, gardening is the closest I can relate to @panzerman :)

    Not nearly as lovely as your coin, but the denomination is very rare.
