Having earned the coin collecting merit badge more than 35 years ago, I will be purchasing a proof and an uncirculated Boy Scout silver dollar for my collection.
I was a scout for almost 11 years, and was the first in my troop to earn the coin collecting merit badge. Later I was a counselor for the merit badge. I'm not buying any of them. I've had a falling out with them over their discrimination against homosexuals and atheists. I still like scouting and support it on a local level, but not on a national level.
These will easily sell out. I am surprised that the Mint is not putting together some special educational set for the BSA commemorative. TC
I never heard about the atheist discrimination. Was this at the same time as the homosexual policy? I think I'll raise my order to 3 proofs and two uncircs; I'll frame one for my Eagle Scout Dad. Coin Collecting was my third MB (Stamp Collecting and Architecture were first and second.)
I'll buy some UNC's and one proof for a Nephew who is a Eagle Scout. I think this will sell-out in LT 2 days.
Two Eagle scout sons = 2 coins (most likely one UNC, one proof) Most likely, it will be the second son who gets the proof as he tried to put together a 20th century type set (which used to be required for the Coin Collecting Merit Badge) with as many proof coins as he could afford.
Not to worry. :thumb:I'll buy 2 for everyone on here who doesn't want one. It will be a quick sellout, I believe.:kewl:
