When you consider the history, (first year of issue), the early controversy ( placement of Brenner's initials) and low mintage (under half a million) it is inevitable that there would be bidders even for a damaged piece. However, if I were to see an auction featuring a similar piece, I would bid $150. If it wins, good, if not I still don't have one and will wait for another.
Of course all of this applies to genuine articles only.

I wish I had a photograph of it with me... I too have a damaged 09-S, VDB. Probably an XF-45 coin with a nick... Well, no, rather a chunk missing from the rim. I absolutely loathe empty holes in coin albums and that space had been empty almost fifty years so a damaged cent suited the bill perfectly for me..... Sure didn't spend anywhere near that kind of price for it though!

I have an aversion to damaged coins. I would not bid on it.

What are you hoping to accomplish by reposting the coin @paddyman98 posted earlier?

Like others have said, maybe to hold a spot in a coin album. I did that for a 1914D LWC. Fills a spot and if it wasn't posted for a small sum, I wouldn't have bid on it.

:( Wrong Answer. Too bad you didn't read the question. If I had not bid $250, would you be happy to bid ANYTHING LOWER like $5 and win the coin? You see, in every normal/average collector's "world" there is a "price" for anything numismatic. As a normal/average numismatist, I personally would slobber all over myself if I could buy that coin for $5 and I feel really sorry for anyone in this thread who can not come up with a MORE RELISTIC PRICE they would be very happy to shell out! Let's see what a damaged coin might be worth. Anyone else curious. A coin like this can be used to trade or to teach. I've been looking for a damaged 1955 DDO showing al the diagnostics for decades!

What would you bid for this one? Would you pay more than $250?

OK, so the coin is completely worthless to you at ANY PRICE.

ifthevamzarockin, asked about my second question ("How many loser :troll::bucktooth: clowns :vomit: with no life :( are going to post in this thread") without answering my first.

"Is this your general opinion of members here?"

Yes, but only when they behave like one which I'll admit to having done a few times myself. :p

 Read my question and then, if you comprehend it, perhaps you could tell me if the coin is worth over my bid of $250 or am I paying too much in your opinion.

We got one - I lose. My guess of zero was wrong. :(

So far it looks like $250 may be too much. One under bidder is at $150.

I did read the question, you really think this coin wouldn't be noticed and sell for a few bucks on ebay???out of all paces!!!!Wish i could buy double eagles for $20 but that obviously isn't going to happen!!!!.

I'm with the zero bid crowd. That coin is too far gone for me to even want to look at it in my collection.

Oh, and I believe the term is huckle bearer. Kilmer slipped up his line.;)

No I wouldn't go as high as $250.00 for that one. I did give $300.00 for the one I have but you cannot see the rim chunk missing inside my book.... I may go as high as $175.00 for that one.

I wouldn't take it for free because then I would have to spend time and energy to get rid of it...although I guess I could just spend it. That'd be fun. OK, I change my mind...I'll take it for free, but no more. I'll also take it if you give me $5 or more to do so.
