Both of these coins have the footless F. Is that even important? I'm thinking the first one is O109a and the second is O110a. How do you spot the difference between the two?

Well, O-108, O-109, and O-110 all share Rev. F, thus they all have the footless F where the engraver got a little sloppy.
I might be wrong, but I think the star to dentical alignments point to both being O-110. Just slightly different die states/wear.

Edit: note that the die crack from the 7 to bust matches on the OP coins....on the 109 it rises more sharply.

All I can add is that the VF-25 is just great looking.
