    Maybe it's just me, but my initial reaction was the seller left money on the table by not using a major international auction house

    Yes that would be my opinion.
    Such a rare set should have had major exposure.

    I wonder if the buyer targeted it to flip at a bigger venue

    It was sold to a buyer from the United Kingdom, so that is a distinct possibility given the rarity.

    There's a lot of advantages with the currency exchange rate, Heritage having a London office, NGC being in London, PCGS being in Paris, Stacks being in Paris. There would be a lot of top end options for someone if that was the goal
