I remember when I was a kid and started searching penny rolls with my dad, trying to fill up a blue Whitman album. Pocket change in those days (1950s) had a lot of old, worn coins. Steel cents and buffalo nickels were very common, as were walker halves, Mercury dimes and SLQs. That was when you could get a silver dollar at the bank in trade for a paper dollar. I never did find a barber, V nickel or Indian head cent in circulation, thought I am sure they were quite common when my dad was a kid. Things have changed a bit now a days. The crummy zinc cents rot out quickly, and a lot of the clad coins are not much better. At least we don't have aluminum coins (yet).
Glad for you. Their all keepers to me. If it has a date it’s good enough for me. One less to pray for
Thanks, @Cheech9712. It was the last coin in my Dansco and it was all I could afford. I wondered if anyone would notice.
Very nice coin. I've been wanting one like that for a while. My ancestors were married in Ireland in 1723 and came to America in 1749. I almost bought the 1749 once but the price tag was just too much for the quality of the coin.
