This is something I cant seem to get right no matter how much I look it up and reference images. To me the double dies and doubling (don't know the correct terminology) all look exactly the same
Wow ! Those last two are mind bending. When I clicked on them to expand them, so did my mind. Could you please take two more pics ? Complete coin in view, obverse and reverse. I can't now nor ever in the future be sure about doubling myself. I'm sure you'll get this answered by some one who knows. good luck.
All I see is reflected light making the images look doubled. Take a picture of the "BE" using florescent light. No need to show the whole coin or any other view. Take on image with the letters right side up and then turn the coin clockwise a quarter turn and take another shot.
Hi Christine - I agree with our fellow enthusiasts. Tough to make out what you have there. Try passing the light through a filter. Also, extreme closeups are usually not needed and can be detrimental to what we are looking for. Welcome to CT!!
The correct term is Doubled Die not double die!!! I agree with the others! Can't tell much from your pictures! Too much light!!!
They look different once you know the difference. Read this information on the Doubled die variety. https://doubleddie.com/58222.html
I agree that the photos are difficult to tell a lot, but all look like machine doubling to me, but like you, I have trouble seeing the true doubled die that is minor. You might try putting more than one light source on the coin to help alleviate shadows.
