Looks to be a while ago...maybe one of the old "rattler" holders with the typewriter-font labels. Cool...I have a few still.
I don't understand what the difference is from the older PCGS and the newer PCGS slabs. I was very happy for you with the MS65, but that was because It was graded earlier like mine. I got a "Wild West Collection" of Morgan dollars. It came as a unit with an 1883CC, 1884CC, and an 1885CC. Each coin was graded separately as MS65. I bought it in 2006 and probably paid too much at $1,500.
I think you will be okay..... have you checked current sold prices? https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...s+ms65&_sacat=0&rt=nc&LH_Sold=1&LH_Complete=1 https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...n+pcgs+ms65&_osacat=0&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1 https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...n+pcgs+ms65&_osacat=0&LH_Complete=1&LH_Sold=1
You did just fine. Prices of CC Morgans have gone insane as of recent. What is the difference in holders over the years? The older PCGS slabbed coins from the late 1980s are perceived to be graded more conservatively than more recent ones, due to a loosening of grading standards.
My guess is that "Wild West Collection" was bought through a TV Show or print Ad. Note that the OP did not indicate which company graded them MS-65. I'm going to take a wild guess and say the coins are cleaned AU's and hope that I am delusional! @Jim Dale Are your coins in the old PCGS slab?
When I saw "Wild West Collection" I first thought of this: https://www.greatcollections.com/Co...ollars-Wild-West-Collection-NGC-MS-65-3-Coins The linked auction was for 82-83-84 rather than 83-84-85, and went for $1156.10 with buyer's fee on Dec 30, 2012. Edit: I see quite a few of these triple slabs, but they're all 82-83-84. @Jim Dale, is it possible you meant to say yours were 82-84 rather than 83-85? The 82-84 are more common dates, and seem more likely to appear in a multi-slab than two common dates and one better date.
