Just finished episode 4:) That series "Valhalla" was really good too. They should do one on Crassus and his demise vs the Parthians.

I recommend watching in German with subtitles for English speakers. The dubbed English is not that great.

For me, Valhalla didn't hold a candle to the original Vikings. Barbarians was great, though.

Marco Polo/ Troy are also great:)

Back to German made "Barbaren"/ they made the Roman Governor appear humane and honorable. After reading on it, that was accurate. Certainly a gentleman compared with thugs like Sulla/ Crassus/ J. Caesar.

It also shows the strategy of using one's enemies tactics against them -- Taking a numerically stronger force, and funneling it into a elongated/stretched-thin line harder to defend and more easy to flank.

By directly attacking at the middle of the line with brutal force, it causes panic/confusion in the front; fearing that they will be cut-off from the rest of the force.

The rear is left to retreat and be corralled; to then be ambushed from a fortified position.

I think this series is about my family. My ancestors were the Vandals. Even have a word in the dictionary for them. Vandals/Vandalism. Ha!
