These keep popping up on a popular social media platform. I'm getting suspicious. Screenshot_20220311-170600__01.jpg Screenshot_20220311-170605__01.jpg

Just Off Center. There are plenty of those.

    It looks legit to me.

I doubt you will see many counterfeits of like that. First, you'd have to get the blank, upset planchet, and second, you would have to have the dies for a cent. The second isn't likely.

I don't believe this is counterfeit (Even though I am still quite new, I don't see anything that could lead that to be counterfeit)

I'm not saying the 1980 the OP posted is not genuine.
They do counterfeit off center errors..... here's a couple of them.

"Then they acquired China dies, right?"

Many people in many places across the world counterfeit many items.
I can't say where any dies or other counterfeit items come from.
There is a big problem with counterfeit coins that come from China.

Like I said "I'm not saying the 1980 the OP posted is not genuine."
The photos make it appear genuine so I would guess the dies for the OP's coin came from the US Mint.

The OP did say "These keep popping up on a popular social media platform."
If this exact date with the exact same offset keeps popping up I would have questions about it.

social media would be the exact place you could rip someone off with something like that, whether it's genuine or fake, I'm not really surprised it pops up on there a lot. LOL
