I can't tell because the pics you sent aren't big enough on my screen.

Ditto with @Abramthegreat. When you post pic in your thread remember to click on upload full image. Also a reverse of the coin would be appreciated to get better idea if it fit criteria of known varieties.

    Can't tell from the pics.

Are you comfortable determining the difference between true hub doubling and mechanical or die deterioration doubling? DDD and MD are common and have no numismatic value.

Here are the characteristics of the worthless doubling.

As others suggested, go to the following sites and look for an EXACT match. Close = you don't have it. These sites have comprehensive listings, and while it's possible to find a new variety, you need to be proficient in recognizing true hub doubling and knowledgeable of the die making process

The last 5 in the date shows a "doubled effect" , but the thickness appears wrong. True doubling will increase the total thickness of both, rather than staying the same or reducing it. Here is my 1955D DDO-001
    1955d-date.JPG

    Compare both with

Varieties are infrequent and take a lot of time, IMO, Jim

What was the question again? I got so wrapped up in looking at 16 photos of the coin, that I lost interest. Glad you are having fun now that you figured out how to use your phone for photos.
I see no doubling of any kind, but love old wheat backs so I'd keep it.

Thanks everyone, I know I loaded alot of pics. That's why I am posting, I am in no way an expert., but I recognize machine doubling now, and know the difference, I THINK. I think there are similarities with all the varieties, in the stages. I certainly don't want to waste anyone's time, so just know I do not have the years of experience that most of you probably do. I appreciate all the opinions, and links. Were you all experts when you joined this site? Should I not be on this site yet?

We even let dogs, cats, horses , squids, all sorts come and stay. The only necessity is to like coins, have interests in learning more...those we like. People who come only when they think they have a coin to sell on etsy, ebay, facebook and want to know how much to ask, those don't stay long. You are very welcome if you eager to learn. There are true experts here, and those in "learning", so a person must always make decisions themselves as to whether this is a good place or not

I personally do not always agree with the experts who have Identification sites on the web, even the well known ones as to what is a variety or is not, they usually have a commercial bias, similarly with some grading sources ;but arguing on a forum is like arguing with a drunk 90 year old grandma....good luck.

The only thing that is helpful to be on this site is to be able to face the truth and not get upset if you don't agree with any particular member. Also, wait until some sort of consensus is reached before getting either upset or overly jubilant.

No, we weren't, and still aren't, all experts and I didn't mean it as a put down. It's just that you posted some many when it wasn't necessary. Sorry I was being flip.
And you certainly should be on this forum as it is a great way to learn from others, so keep looking, posting, and asking. Good luck.
