Would you classify this 1969S a DD

    Hello everyone. Would you grade this 1969S as a DD? Thanks

    IMHO no. All looks flat and shelflike including the mint mark. Another case of die deterioration doubling.

    DD or DDO it an Attribution not a grade.
    Grade is only concerned with the condition of a coin.
    I am not seeing a DDO.

    As noted, die deterioration and some die/equipment movement. Both DDD and MD present on this coin. But no real doubling. (i.e., not a DDO). You'll find that 1969 was a good year for lots of MD, by the way. At least, that has been my experience.

    Variety and Error coins are Attributed.. Not graded.
    Grading has to do with the condition of the coin.

    So let's say you do have a coin that is a true error or variety. If you send it and just pay for grading that's all you will get. You have to pay a separate attribution fee for it to be stated on the slab.

    To be honest, this doesn't seem like doubling just the die deteriorating (Which makes it look like it's doubling)
