Problems with this, I'll start. Reverse, Notice the rounded tips of the Wheat Ears! (counterfeit marker) There is other problems on the reverse and on the obverse. Comment as to what other issue you notice or question? https://www.ebay.com/itm/134050857181?hash=item1f360dc0dd:g:Q-QAAOSwTJliK5xZ
Sometimes I post these and the images then I'll scroll through the post making a quick review of things and I'll see all kinds of other problems with the coin, this one has got TONS of counterfeit baggage going on with it. This should be fun for sure!
Rather than list what's wrong with it it would be a shorter list of what's right. Looks like it's made of copper.
Look at the wheat stems, look how fat the one is on the left. I've never seen that on one of these. The rounded wheat tips is a bit rare to find.
This is the why I do what I do in searching these fraud Lincoln's out, the bidding is at $300.00 If I can I like to get these listings taken care of before the bidding starts or gets very high. Lets say I set into motion doing this a couple of years ago when I got taken on a phony SVDB, I was a year getting $200.00 of my $500.00 back, bla...bla.....I did in the end split the loss with the other person. So, I've been at these for two years now, EVERYDAY I do several searches for them. I'll say a year to 14 months into my SVDB policing I started looking out for the 14-D's, sometimes I do some searches for phony 55 DDO seeing how I have one, but mainly I stay focused on the SVDB, and its known to be the number one counterfeited/faked US coin!
Correct, in that same area and I find this a LOT, look how low to the rim the period is following the V vs a genuine one! This is mine, Notice how its actually about mid point of the right branch of the "V"? (Insert inside joke here) Someone at one point in the past would call this a "Whispering VDB" LoL!
Please don't take this as a rebuttable, I don't mean it that way! But I would add that better than just trusting one to be genuine because its slabbed is to find one being sold by a reputable coin dealer and offers a guarantee of authenticity and RETURNS!! They will likely be certified by one of these professional grading services, PCGS, NGC, or other, they're most likely able to spot a genuine coin and genuine slab!! These are turning up in counterfeited slabs. The scammers will stop at nothing to rip people off.
Good point! and looking across all three initials it appears that all the periods are to close to the letters they're following, but the one following the "V" is also noticeably lower and to close to the rim.
Well, this one is still with us. Seems sometimes these are more trouble to deal with than other times. Its got 5 bids @ $370.00 We might have to take things up a notch to get rid of this.
Okay, I'd like to know at this point (confirm) if and any messages or reports has been done with this coin? The reason is that if there has been a few to several attempts made at this point then it may take looking for extra leverage to get the listing removed. Thanks
