Hi all, I am purchasing a scale today. Can anyone suggest a certain one or a scale is a scale as long it is accurate. I will order one that has calibrations for accuracy. Thanks!

All across America you can go into any smoke shop and they sell jewelers gram scales. Simple and easy to calibrate.
Any brand will do. Many are under $20.00

Names don’t matter, accuracy does. I paid less than $20.00.

I have two or three inexpensive scales and all work equally well. I think you just need to buy one that gives you readings to double digits on both sides of the decimal and can be calibrated easily. Make sure to always use it on a hard, level, flat surface. Good luck.

Some scales come with a 100 gram test weight that you can use to check the scale's calibration.

I weigh every silver coin that I buy. For me it's the first line of inspection to see if the coin is a fake. I've had some silver coins that were VF to XF that were more than 2 grams light, big red flag .

Thank you. Yes, have to be careful. Some just do not care if they cheat someone.

@PamR Now that the scale is ordered you need to gather information on each type of coin and get the weight tolerances for them. All coins of the same type do not weight the same but most of them are within the tolerance levels. :)

Thank you. I have to get organized with them. Still have many to go through so what I am learning and as I go I need to do correctly.
