So, what are you wanting to know about your quarter @PamR ? I don't see anything but a damaged 1982P quarter! Is there something I'm missing??
The PCGS grade is generally accurate with the amount of wear. Your example, sadly, is damaged, how are you comparing it?
VF25 Details coin. As noted by our fellow enthusiasts, it's a damaged coin. When you see issues with most any coin, any numismatic value significantly drops and where there is little numismatic value to start with, it's a face value coin. Dents and scratches, which are present on your coin and beyond what is traditionally viewed as circulation damage, are the main detractors. Corrosion is also another big culprit.
The first coin in your post looks like a Mis-Aligned die strike on the obverse as there is no rim in the 11K position. The 2nd coin is heavily circulated, and I would say it has no numismatic value.
I can't recall seeing a coin graded 53 before, 50, 55, or 58 is the usual, so that part made this post worth reading. Thanks Pam.
Excellent way of learning. Take one of your coins and study it against the pcgs site. Make a list of how yours differs, and /or similarities, from the images
Yes and he describes each grading of a coin. Hands on will help me. May I ask, how often, if you do, send any coins to determine the grade?
Look above the coins. But no biggie. I am on the web site to teach me. He goes step by step. LSU also has an area for in person. So I’m considering to get all of this overwhelming amount of coins I have studied with someone so I can stop posting the silly stuff just because. And concentrate on the good finds. Thank you bunches! Just one more for the road lol. Not going anywhere. Just won’t post much. Watch and learn I shall! I think Roosevelt is good looking. Wear and tear but just found. Silver. Found a much better one a while ago. On a better track. Good luck at your appointment. Prayers your way!
