Would you agree with an AU grade?

I don't think those areas you think are wear are wear, Larry, they're toning. I think that's MS. Start the bidding at 63.

hard call not in hand.. looks like a little rub across the beard, chin and collar... that would make it AU58 in my book... if a weak strike rather then rub I could easily call it 64-65...
and I can't be sure not seeing the edge, but is that a Matte proof?

    Same thought here too.

The edges certainly have the matte proof look (I had that thought too when seeing the image)

A lot of nice clean detail! I'll say MS64!

I thought AU as soon as I saw it, without reading your opening.
    It's a nice coin AU58+ to me.

It has the obverse and reverse die markers of the MP dies so it would appear to be a proof issue although first glance I didn't think the inside rim was square enough. I think PR63ish if the obverse is just toned and not slight rub. Tough call from images.

    Yeah.
if you can get it at 1909 AU money, I'd probably go for it. I mean AU money is what $20-$25? maybe a bit less yeah, sure. I'd gamble on that one!

She's a beauty if nothing else comes from it.

First glance, the rim appears squared and sharp, so my thought was a proof. As for wear; could it be "shelf rub?" I vote MS coin.
