I'm sure that the volume orders get special treatment. What I don't want to see is those volume buyers getting all the 70s while the general public gets the lesser grades. While the final say is up to the grading service handling the coin I'm very confident that the boys at the mint have the experience to tell when a coin is a 70.
Talk to Shatzy....oops, did I say that? Must be the bourbon. I think it's time for beddy by. Nighty nite.....
I'm not sure if I'm right, but I think CSN is the vendor for HSN and owns Coinvalt. Silvertowne is the vendor for SHOPNBC.
This kind of business happens in any hobby or interest group. Before making any major purchase or investment, you should always do research and famaliarize yourself with what you are purchasing. It sort of reminds me of the guy who hears the stock market is booming, so he throws $10,000 at a stock broker blindfolded. With tools like the internet, there is no reason to at least get a feel for what something's true value is.
I noticed in early 2008 that NGC graded First Spouse coins were on eBay before I even received my 12:04 order from the Mint. That was at a time when "first on eBay" spouses were significantly higher than those listed weeks later... Doesn't that fly in the face of the spirit behind the Mint's stated "equal access" fairness policy?! On the subject of the Mint playing favorites with quality: I've spent enough time trying to discern Spouse PR70's from PR69's that I doubt any Mint employees would have better luck predicting them (with PCGS, I'm batting 150 on the proofs!). We all know that on different days, the TPGs themselves would grade the same coin differently! Admission: I bought a couple "graded" Oath Dollars from Collector's Alliance but, in fairness, I knew full-well what I was getting into! It's just that I'm a Pres/Spouse completist. I have reached my limit, however, and starting with Jackson, my oath dollars are all raw and direct from the Mint Gift Shop. I buy five, and one of them I carry with me till the next pres comes out.
