The newest editions are pricy so the online one that @Histman linked is the best bet.

so right now i am focusing on learning pennies... learning the coin hunting, variety and error information first. i want to get a handle on things before i move onto other coins, as far as in the error /variety parts of numismatics and/or the collectible coins part such as silver, foreign and/or ancient.

but of course and you have. but what appeals to me is all the info in one source. i get confused jumping around to all the different websites, i got the mega red book and i love it. but it doesn't contain a bunch of info that would be beneficial to me, like pictures

I've been looking but unfortunately my immediate area is not a hot bed for numismatics that i have found out so far

Yes, an older one would be fine. However, there are way too many online sources to use for free that would provide you the same information, and much more detailed pictures. I'd just use online sources.

Here is the cheapest one I've found. Any version will work for now.

You know what I just had a thought, maybe a little old school but have you tried your public libraries if they have a copy in their catalog you can reserve and just check out every so often?

I know they don't have everything, but, you never know. might be worth a shot and I don't think many folks even go to Libraries anymore.

this site has 4th edition Vol 2 for $25, I don't know the site at all though I clicked on it, it was safe as far as that goes, but I don't know how the business operates, no experience with them.

Amazon has 4th edition Vol1 spiral bound, for $40. I haven't found anything cheaper than that.

It would be a cheaper way to get them on your shelf as a resource. I think the volume 2 is a good deal but it's less useful as it starting at half dimes onward through gold. Volume 1 covers the cents and nickels and and small stuff most people search.

I think 4th edition vol1 came out in 2001 and vol 2 came out in 2005 or so. I also think they are always a year or two late for their release dates.

Wow! I drilled down into this and began reading the contemporary letters about coins. Actually only one so far, about sixteen nickel 5 cent pieces returned to the mint and the resolution. But I am going to look at the others in a few. These are remarkable. Thank you Paddy54 for your post. (All, isn't CT just great in that such things exist and are shown).
