I do wish I would have kept mine from the past. This one I found with my dad’s coins. Other people here have posted some beautiful ones. Not a coin I know, but sort of
Yes I saw them earlier! I so wished I would have saved them. I do know some here have kept theirs but they may be keeping them. Pretty and unique designs.
The throws are aluminum, but they also tend to make some special ones for the crewes and other special people out of other metals. The aluminum ones are usually the only ones you run across. Pieces in other metals are also more common in the earlier ones.
I think what happens is I think about commenting and maybe I chicken out and it pulls or saves a draft whether I typed something or not. Lol!
Sorry I left it empty. I guess being I’m in Louisiana I can talk too much lol. Yes Mardi Gras has pretty items of all kinds especially earlier dates.
Seeing some of the things your dad kept lets me know he and I would really get along. Wish I'd had the privilege of having met him. Keep his memory alive.
I am a N'awlins boy and yes, nearly all doubloons from Mardi Gras are aluminum, however, the King doubloons are generally not as plentiful as the others and worth a few bucks depending on the celebrity. There are also Krewe medallions that are passed out to members that are Bronze or Silver (most are from years back though). These are more collectible and very rare yet, still not that valuable. Regardless of any of the above, going to Madi gras and catching these doubloons is worth more than anything. You should all try to go one year, it is an experience and it is second to none.
