Y’all want a piece of my collection, you’ve gotta jump through a few hoops. ;)

    Not that hard, though.

Entry post: LordM I admire your collecting skills, and the restraint you have in choosing coins for your box. Your ancient collection is outstanding in eye appeal of your chosen pieces. My favorite would be the Greek silver drachm Athena & Owl. If lucky enough to be selected I would choose a coin from the ancients to help that field in my coin hoard. Once again thank you for your generosity of coins and time.

There is actually a small chance that you could win that coin. We'll see.

What I mean is that if you win the drawing, that is one coin that I might actually part with. Maybe.

In the course of the contest, I do not expect many of people's favorites to actually be prize-eligible, since people will likely gravitate towards the more expensive stuff when they're choosing favorites from my collection. But that won't always be the case, I realize.

I may be looking in the wrong place but the link takes us to September 27th update not 21st. Assuming it is just a typo, I think the design of this
Austria: silver proof 10-euro, Klosterneuburg Abbey commemorative, 2008 is absolutely stunning. Having said that however, my choice of category would be
    C- United States Coins.
    Good luck everyone

Yes, a goof. (September 21 is my daughter's birthday, so I must have been thinking about that.)

Sorry. And thanks for the correction. 'Tis fixed.

That Austrian coin was not very expensive. It's not one I want to give away as a prize here (not that you'd win it anyway since your prize category is US), but buying it raw, it cost me 25 Euros or less, as I recall. Plus slab fee, of course. That is the only time I ever submitted something to a TPG and had it come back with a 70 grade.

You posted your reply over in the collection thread instead of here, so I moved it.

I agree with your taste. While choosing one favorite from here would be difficult, that little owl would be in my Top 3 if not #1.

Per my comment on the original post, still like the Brunswick-Lüneburg bracteate and the Zurich city view coins as I collect coins from the German States and swiss Cantons. Though with my new found interest in ancients, the Julia Mamaea is quite nice too!
If I were to win, the category isn't too important. My whole collection is eclectic.

I'm really starting to take a shine to tokens (although I only have a few) and I like these two out of your collection:
    1) United States (New York): nickel silver private pattern cent, Feuchtwanger's Composition, 1837
    2)
United States: copper Hard Times token; C.D. Peacock Jeweler, Chicago, "1837" (struck ca. 1902)

    Thank you for this opportunity!

    Category C, U.S. coins.
My favorite I saw, was the 1844 Seated Liberty Half. I love all halves, but I have a special affection for Seated Liberty's.
Thanks, as always for running these contests!

I just bought my first ancient coin, and can't wait for it to arrive so I can post it. My favorite coin in the list I would say is the Justinian gold tremissis. I like this one primarily because his rule represented a time when he gained a lot of territory back for the byzantine empire, but after his rule had ended a lot of it fell away again. The fall of the Roman empire is where my first semester world history class ended, so that's about all I know now that I'm taking us history again. US history is quite boring directly after reading about the Roman empire but the coins are great. In particular I love the 1875 20-cent piece and the three-cent nickel, because obsolete denominations are really cool to me. Thanks for the contest!

Your 1844 Seated Liberty half Dollar is very nice! Such an excellent design, and the condition is great. I like the pleasant even toning.

    I would choose category C,
    (United States Coins).

Thanks for the contest and your generosity!
