Tranquillina was married in 241 to the boy-emperor Gordian III (238-244) by her father, Timesitheus, who ancient historians have lauded as an extremely capable advisor. There are many imperial denarii in the name of Gordian III with his portrait that celebrate their marriage, however imperial denarii and antoniniani in her name with her portrait are very rare. Her coins from Roman Alexandria and other provincial cites are not so rare. There are many provincial coins with their two busts in profile facing each other. Some provincial coins have Tranquillina alone. If you want to collect (at least) one of each Roman, you might do as I did and settle for a provincial coin. THRACE. Hadrianopolis. My only Tranquillina depicted without Gordian III features Marsyas on its reverse. @Alegandron has one that was struck with the same obverse die but has a different reverse type.
