Hello again, yet another "looking through a batch of random stuff and I found something interesting post" from me.

What I have today is a Hannah & Hogg Saloon Token (1880's) from the Chicago, IL area. There is a blog mention of this store and its owners here with a nice write up of the history of the place.

According to this eBay link, the catalog number for this token is IL-CH-32. My example is referred to as the "8-line" reverse, while the Numista link shows a less common "7-line" reverse (omitting Chicago from the bottom.)

My token in hand is in excellent overall condition with some surface issues (as if it has been cleaned at some point.) It's much nicer than most examples I found available online, which seem to sell for somewhere between $15-30.

If anyone has any more information about this token, I'd love to hear it here!

Thank you for checking out my post.

Interesting that a Thistle saloon token should appear on the Boards today.

This morning I noticed a green bag on the ground next to my mailbox. It had NO delivery name or address on it, and turned out to be from a company called Thistle, a food provider (I believe from local farmers, but am unsure). I tried to contact Thistle, but the only way to do so was to give them all my contact info which, per their privacy policies, would be shared with marketers. Needless to say, I didn't contact them, but have tried to contact my neighbors to see if anyone gets Thistle. C'est la vie.

That's a super interesting coincidence. I wonder if the green bag is part of a marketing campaign.

I doubt it was part of a marketing campaign as it was a "chill" bag, and had food and several reusable sealed freeze bags inside to keep the food cool. It seems likely to me that someone had their food mis-delivered by Thistle to my address.

I left the bag out all day yesterday and today, and no one has picked it up.

Thinking of your thistle token and another "link", I have a daughter named Hannah.
