To me, it looks like part of the rim was struck into the obverse by the minting process. Or, is this post mint damage? 2021cropb.jpg 2021fullobv.jpg 2021fullrev.jpg

Yeaup this is a strike thru by that part of the rim you see missing there.
I’ve found a few of these on other dates.
    Nice find

basically some how when the coin got into the striking chamber a piece of the rim came off from something maybe a finger feeder or something else idk. Then once it landed in place the piece went onto the coin and got struck thru and came off after the strike.
I love thoguht it was considered a rim burr but I guess not according to one of my other posts. No one really has responded back to what I’ve said in return to there responds.
untrianed eye yea it’ll look like a coin hit very similar but it’s easy to the tell difference between the two in hand.

So.. How long have you been studying and collecting mint errors? If you tell me I will tell you how long I've been collecting ;)

Hint.. Longer than you've been alive.

It looks like a Rim Burr to me.. IMHO

Yea I believed a rim burr but others on my last post said other wise and Fred Weinberg said the price of the rim didn’t go to the strike thru lol.
But it does. My other post is 2011 struck Thru shield cent read the comments and look.
I just know what to look for and characteristics of certain errors etc mostly strike thrus that maybe others would think is damage .
I’m knowledgeable I’ve been collecting for 8 years. I have the eyes and knowledge to tell an error from pmd etc.
Not strictly errors either doubled dies mainly.

Errors vs pmd to me is easy to understand but can I accurately describe how it occurred etc no I can’t sometimes. And the whole process it went through to get to that point nope I can’t.

it’s like seeing a doubled die vs mechanical doubling that’s easy to understand when you know what ur looking for etc.

Sounds good. Keep at it. There's so much more to learn. After 36 years of collecting errors I learn about new issues all the time.
