Good afternoon! I find myself again poking through old batches of coins here, and I've come across a blank planchet that appears to be from Mexico. If I am correct, it should be a 20 Peso (KM 486 / 1980-1984.) Diameter: 32mm Weight: 15.3g Do you agree that's what this is, or is there another option I'm missing? I'm only a little unsure because the edge lettering looks like a different font/style than the example shared on Numista.
The full coin shown on Numista looks to be a business strike, and the edge image could be the proof version, maybe there is a slight difference there in the edge lettering. Just speculating
So, it's your contention that this planchet is a bit newer than I had first thought? That's a very interesting theory - so does anyone here have both the BU/Proof versions of this coin and wouldn't mind verifying for me/us?
Possibly. Another option is that the sandwich was so good (divine, even), that a brilliant image of the sammich appeared in the sky, so bright that a faint image of it was scorched into the planchet, which was sitting on Arthur Dent's window sill in Cottington UK.
