Come clean, you closet collectors........did you, or didn't you? If you didn't, I'll be taking names.........
Ken, they are neat coins but don’t really fit in my collection. I had numerous veterans in my family — and, fortunately, none ever had the misfortune of getting a Purple Heart, though millions of others did.
If one ordered everything new the mint is selling, you would not have any money left for anything else.
Some of my favorites have been Cracklin Rosie (Diamond), People Get Ready (Mayfield....AND LOVE the Impressions version), Love Train, (O'Jays), Get on Board (Temple..McGhees....Cedar Mont Kids versions), This Train Is Bond For Glory (Cash), Johnny Cash (Cooder). I am sure there are others, but I am old and forgetful.
You forgot the Monkees, Last Train to Clarksville. @green18 Add me to the list. I think the lift of no, I didn’t buy is longer than the yes, I bought one.
No, did not. My uncles (all not deceased) had their own. Luckily all my sons (Marines and Army) were never wounded. My grandson (Army Special Ops and 1st Cav) and my sweet granddaughter (Air Force) still at risk. I pray daily they will never have to have one awarded to them.
I didn't forget them. They are just not memorable to persons that enjoy good music. Did the Clarksville song have the words "Get On Board' in it?
I would never ever never nada upso forget The Great One! I almost listed it but then remembered he sang "All Aboard" as opposed to "Get On Board", and I wanted to stay within your criteria.
I was tempted - a tiny bit - but they've really priced me out of the market. I've said it before but this year's commemorative subject matter is a cut above recent years, IMO.
in general I don't have interest in commemorative coins, in fact, I don't own a single one unless you count bicentennial or state quarters or NA dollar coins. Just not my thing.
Its a depressing design that is unlikely to be popular even with the subject matter. There's a lot better ways you could represent it than someone laying on a stretcher with a head injury that probably lost their eye sight
