The Mint has big plans for the Morgan and Peace dollars. It looks like they will be a regular ongoing series from now on, and there will be a myriad of finishes offered. I’m very pleased with this. I did not want these to be a one year only issue.
They'll get boring very quickly once they get through all the different finishes and just start doing repeats
I get what you’re saying, and your statement is true for me regarding Kennedy halves and silver eagles. But I love the Morgan and Peace designs, so I most likely won’t tire of them the same way.
I think Morgans are overrated but would love to see one in an RP. Peace dollar designs I do really enjoy. I'm not entirely opposed to doing one off reissues of such things for each finish, but if it just becomes a yearly thing of the same thing like ASEs it really cheapens the originals. World coins have shown us time and again there's plenty of people capable of making incredible designs. A one of here and there of old designs can be and often is exciting, but we shouldn't just be recycling them over and over as we can certainly do better than that PS, I would love to see them do a clad Ike once and once only that is actually really well done
Yes, a perfect clad Ike dollar would be incredible, and as crazy as it sounds, I would also like to see clad versions of the Morgan and Peace.
I wouldnt hate that at all. As long as its a new version of something I could get excited about it, just please don't give me the same silvers every year
The Purple Heart commemorative coins were released today for presale. No other member has commented here. Did anyone make a purchase? I did, both the proof and uncirculated half dollars and dollars to keep my silver and clad collection complete. It is telling that the commemorative coin program has fallen very far if no one even cares.
It's kind of a depressing design, but the one that would have gotten attention was pushed back. I get its a depressing subject but the design and the mintages has killed the modern commemorative series overall
