Anyone big on collecting these? Is there a demand for them in the collecting world? I have a Silver Buffalo, Ellis Island,West Point and Disabled Veterans.
depends on if your talkin pre82 or modern....the pre82 are pretty-much dead right now but w/ low mintages have alot of potential, those and Morgans are what Im buying right now
I have a couple boxes of the 30 or so in each Modern.. Mint Packaging and A dozen or so Slabbed in MS70 or PF70... I like the Modern ones.. I like them all I guess.. The Modern are affordable and on my way now to having a Complete set...
I am currently working to complete my modern commemorative collection. I am collecting both the proof and UNC coins.
I really like some of the modern commemoratives (1994 POW, 1996 Smithsonian,2007 Jamestown,2008 Bald Eagle just to name a few) but some I really don't like (2000 Lief Ericson, 2001 Capital, 1997 Botanic Garden just name a few more). So some I will collect and some I won't collect. I try to collect only the ones I like, doesn't always happen and my taste have a tendency to change. Right now I'm digging the 1925 Stone Mountain,1926 Oregon Trail and last but not least the 1935 Connecticut Tercentenary but at last the last couple are out of my price range right now but I can dream.
I have most of early and modern ones, still can't afford hawaiian, i think that one is kind of over priced compared to other ones with similar mintage.
I'm basically a "modern" guy Dag so I do indeed enjoy and collect the more modern commem's. I really must Say though, that I do admire your choices for the more "classical" issues. All of your choices I deeply admire. Stone Mountain is a commem that I recently acquired. "Stone wall" Jackson is, in my estimation, was one of the greatest generals of the civil war era. I love and admire the man. May I also suggest "Gettysburg" and "Antietam'" as classical choices? Welcome to the forum old fellow.....

I like modern commemoratives as well and have quite a few. I collect the ones I like only. Many I don't care for. The Olympics ones don't interest me and many others. My favorite is the 2008 Bald eagle set. I have that set in PF70 and another of the half in MS70. The Lincoln was really nice last year too. I ended up getting a PF70 and the Chronicles set. There have been good and bad ones. Some I just skip while some are must haves. Next up on my hit list is a 2001-D Buffalo, actually. Some I like in MS and some I like in PF. The buffalo looks really good in MS. It always feels good getting a nice commemorative for some reason. You can't go wrong. They're well made. There's no b.s.
I have a collection of classic commemoratives which is still in it's infancy. My favorite is the Lafayette Dollar followed by the Vermont, Antietam, and Norfolk. Here are some photos of my commemoratives. Enjoy!
Not big on collecting modern ones, I really happen to like the silver buffalo though. At one point had one, a 01D NGC MS69, but sold it, for way less than I paid. The moderns don't have that great of designs IMO, and I'd prefer to buy some nice old ones, than buying maybe a MS70 buffalo for IDK how many hundreds of dollars. With the older commemoratives you have the Oregon Trail, the San Diego, the Texas, the California, those are some of the ones I can think of off the top of my head, that are beautiful designs. (And there are many more!) I think I can become big on collecting pre-modern commemoratives, if I put all my focus in just commemoratives. They are pretty fairly priced, and if you wait it out, you can get some beautiful toners like Lehigh has! :thumb:
