    I have only purchased US gold and feel I am competent identifying a fake US gold. I don't know that I have ever had a Krugerrand in hand and wouldn’t know a fake from the real thing. What are the tip offs?

    I'm sorry, but that "AD" for the Fisch made me laugh. Any coin collector worth their salt would have a scale and caliper to come to the same conclusion and wouldn't have to spend money buying a Fisch for each size coin they ran across.
    I'm pretty sure that @Randy Abercrombie was referring to the obvious signs in the design that might appear and not just the weigh and diameter, but I could be wrong and I'm sure someone will correct me if so.

    Yes, the fact that it was priced at $5, stated as 'replica' and as gold plated iron should have should rand a few alarm bells :eek:
