    Bronze coin (AE Antoninianus) minted at RE=Rome during the reign of PROBUS between 276 - 282 A.D. Obv. PROBVS.P.F.AVG.: Radiate, draped bust r. Rev. FIDES.MILITVM.: Fides standing left, holding two ensigns. RICV #170. DVM #20.

    Most ancient coin collectors who have been in the hobby a long time will admit to over-paying for some coins in their collection, I certainly have :shame:. About a week ago I made a note to follow the coin pictured below that sold at the Heritage auction last night because of this thread that I planed on posting. Can anyone in their right mind justify paying $480.00 for this coin :eek:!

    I think it must be a case of the decimal point being in the wrong place. A classic example of the slab being worth more than the coin.

    I got a similar coin lately too but with to much dirt on it so I cant say how good it will look once cleaned. The price was a liiiitle bit lower though ;)
