In my mailbox last evening was yet another of the QuarterMaster’s cryptic coins. But with this counter stamped coin, he seems to be issuing a challenge . . . ! In his letter, the QuarterMaster reveals one of his “pet peeves.” The QuarterMaster laments this generations ignorance of history, civics, and the “engritch language” in general. Those who rely on their “Google-Fu skillz” to determine life’s mysteries and not their “gray matter.” Folks who rely on the interwebz to deliver to them all “TRUTH,” “KNOWLEDGE,” and “UNDERSTANDING.” Folks who believe just because it was posted on “Wiki-wacki” and both Abraham Lincoln and Albert Einstein were quoted saying it, IT MUST BE TRUE . . . . . . The QuarterMaster then seems to conclude his letter with a challenge. See his challenge for yourself. Sherlock Holmes on the envelope . . . . ”an unresolved mystery regarding the background and details of QuarterNotes Ltd.” . . . . . a “goal that is not out of reach” . . . . . . Could it be? Does it seem that the QuarterMaster is actually challenging us to “unmask” him? My first question is: Has anyone else received this particular challenge? If the answer to that is NO, then my suspicions on who the QuarterMaster is are solidified. If the QM has singled out the Zoid for this particular challenge, that eliminates the possibility of the clues being applicable to a wide variety of recipients and situations. From the clues presented, from previous forum posts, from knowledge held only by myself, I believe with a 89.5% certainty, I know who he is . . . . . My only outstanding question is . . . who is Watson? For every Sherlock, there must be a Watson. Watson answers the question of geography. Watson, I am surmising, is the Ft. Meyers connection . . . . Z
The fact that I did receive one, and HOW I received all of them, are huge clues to me as to who the QM might be. Without giving too much away, there are very few folks here who know who the Zoid is. There are even fewer who might know my preferred mailing address. And I can count on the toes of a "three-toed sloth" those folks who know where these envelopes were mailed to . . . . . . This particular Quarter Notes quarter seals the deal . . . . . Z
A great challenge for amateur sleuths. I, for one, don't really care who the person or persons are that damage coins under a cloak of anonymity, so won't be expending my energy. But thanks for the post.
MEET HERE on a Colorado quarter. While the mint doesn't specify the mountain on the coin and there is some info that the artist used Long's Peak as a model, Pike's Peak is probably the most famous peak in CO. Pike's Peak is close to Colorado Springs, which happens to be hosting the ANA Spring Show next month So my guess, is that MEET HERE may have something to do with a get together at the show. Better start making travel plans @ZoidMeister , you may end up having to organize the meeting Or I could be completely out in left field
I received a letter yesterday, Same letter and wordings. Quarter was different. Fairly certain it was a California, and it said "EVERY JULY" but I'd have to check when I get home, I don't trust my memory to be certain, certainly. personally I don't want to take the mystery out of it. I could have worked a whole lot harder to find out if I really wanted or needed to know. I just don't want or need to know. Same postmark, I didn't get a starwars stamp though! hmmmpf! lol 2-1B is the Alliance droid from Empire on Hoth that fixes Luke after the Wampa and getting his hand cut off.
I believe one of the Long Beach shows is in July. Maybe somebody will get a stamped Florida (FUN) Maryland (Whitman show), and Illinois (Central States)
I'm not sure if the order of the words makes a difference or not, but the quarter says HERE MEET and not "meet here." The fact that I received a Colorado quarter I thought was significant. The fact that @John Burgess received a different quarter with different message is making me rethink who I thought this might be . . . . . . I have never been a member of the ANA (yet) nor have I been to any coin shows. I am back to being less certain . . . . . I have been (belatedly) watching all the Star Wars creations with Mrs. Zoid as of late. We are keeping current with the "Book of Boba Fett." I also took note of the stamp on the envelope. I wonder how the QuarterMaster knew we were watching . . . . . . Z
I took note of your stamp, well because it was star wars, I've sidelined it for a good while but it was my passion as a youngin', I think it's just coincidence and the stamps he had available though. I've gotten a BB-8 stamp from him before on an envelope. unrelated to anything really at the time. just coincidental I think the droid stamps were issued May 2021. (MAY THE FOURTH to be exact hahaha! star wars humor) possibly he/she is a SW fan. I'm not sold on if the quarters mean anything relating to the investigation (lol) besides the basic meanings, like Colorado is probably 4 corners monument, No idea what california Every july means yet... but you never know, maybe each coin is part of a bigger hint..... a series of clues on this mailing possibly. I mean, did he just pick an image from shutter stock for the envelope, or is there more to it..... HAHAHHA https://utahsymphony.org/event/id/26185/
I also received a new letter from the Quartermaster yesterday. I threw it on the counter and forgot about until I saw this thread. I’ll open it when I get home tonight and post back here.
Same with me. Had an envelope in the mailbox today but was late for a date with my boy at the football field. By the time I get home late tonight and hastily consume a meal, I’ll probably be sleepwalking to the bed. My mysterious envelope will have to await tomorrow to be opened and studied.
At the four corners monument: "Here meet in freedom under God four states" Sounds plausible but is it necessarily Colorado when it applies to 4 states? Or is there an event in that corner of Colorado? ok.... back to Wordle.
Well kudos to the Quarter Master, and his letter... I agree 100 % truer words, and love it that he has challenged you all! The closest thing we had to a computer as kids in school was the times table printed on the back of your copy book, which you better damn site not turn the book over durring a math test.....you got an "F" if you did... Later when calculators were on the maket you were not allowed to use one in school....not that you could afford one....a basic TI calculator cost was in the hundreds of dollars. Glad to be a spectator on this one.....start poping the corn.
Here’s mine to throw a monkey wrench into the gears. This Vermont quarter is counterstamped with “WRONG SIDE OF THE RIVER” :
A red herring.... clue fake PR zip code and address....mailed from Fort Myers Fl. There is no Watson....as watson could be a security breech thus he works alone...and cleaver enough to throw" you " a red herring that you..... not he created. Plant a seed and watch it grow...he's good.
The 3 events you mentioned only 1 is near a river the fun show is near a lake, Illinois show no river, now Whitman show is on the west side of the Patapsco river that forms Baltimore harbour.
