Found this beauty in today's coin search.

Found a 1945 and 1947D Wheaty today and this 1991 beauty. It mirrors like a proof but has no mint marks. I am on the fence about this onw

Looks more like a Play money piece to me.Can you get an edge picture and weight.

 

Looks good to me, for whatever reason I've run across some REALLY nice looking '91s in change compared to zinc cents from other years. Just like that, with sharp flat rims and almost glowing fields.

 

Ok then so it's real I'm just baffled.

 

I hope I didn't sound deliberately contradictory though, a coin like that makes you pause and think because it's so different. Since I've observed mostly '91s showing up like this, maybe I need to do some research as to why that is - I'd like to hear others' insights on this phenomenon - and if it's worth busting out my big bag of searched zincolns and pulling these aside before turning them in.

The reason why it looks that way is because it was probably previously encased in a bezel. Rim looks damaged to me.

Strange looking, to say the least.

 

It looks struck from fresh dies which is refreshing but it also looks damaged from being encased.
