Ok politics aside, this is listed as an “error”. It must rank at the pinnacle of errors. E6374AFB-73F5-48A8-A0E0-9A4B7C1561E4.jpeg

Lol, not an error, just wishful thinking.

This has happened before when a 'ruler' of a country was to start and circumstances changed, or sometimes these sort of things are minted in advance in anticipation of the person coming into power.

Either way it is not an error and the seller is just hyping it up.

I'm guessing the bigger error is assuming this thread can last more than a page or so without getting nuked. ;)

I often wondered what happened with championship hats that were made for the losing teams. I am sure there is a dumpster fire going on somewhere today with "Bengals Superbowl Champs" emblazoned on them..... But I bet that medallion is a similar deal.

One time I read in Readers Digest that they get sent to "3rd world countries" as donations.

I think if that were true, you'd see all kinds of these type of "errors" for sale on ebay. Lot's of 3rd world countries use ebay and would do so because I'm sure there are lots of individuals out there who would be in the hobby of collecting stuff that "never was" and pay for it accordingly.

Ranks up there with a smiling president-elect Harry Truman holding up the "Dewey Defeats Truman" front page headline in 1948. It happens.

Reminds me of the time about 20 years ago went into a nonprofit Thrift Store of a charity supported by United Way. They had just received a bunch of boxes of brand new clothing from NIKE. Turns out the boxes were full of Super Bowl, World Series, Final Four, College World Series and etc T-shirts and Hats. Sporting Championship games covering a multitude of sports over a span of several different years. Only thing - all the of the teams depicted on the shirts were the loser. I sill bought 50 or more items. I call it my loser collection.

Not true they are destroyed...and the loss is figured into the cost of the winning teams goods sold.
I'm sure the < $10 cost hats sold for $25 or more there's plenty of profits to cover any loss by the NFL.

I know this for a fact having dealings with them when we supplied the stadium with hot dogs, and other goods.
T shirts the same both printed the loosing team are destroyed.
Years ago working in stores we get shirts ,hats ,other goods. That were not available for sale until after the game ... as the other merchandise had to be returned to the vendor .The same with CD's and movies released they were dated for sale...any sale prior to that date heads would roll! As the fines and loss of contracts are moon money!
