US currency dollars

I am trying to remember why the one dollar's obv plate position # and other letters/number have changed their font size on some of them. Some still have two sizes while others have the same size. I know it changed, but why? Was it because they went from 36 to 50 to a sheet?

There’s a difference in the size of the plate position numbers on 32 and 50-subject sheets. This will help.

Unfortunately, the BEP is seldom forthcoming with information when changes are implemented.

 

I guess it's at the whim of the engraver, sort of like a signature? LOL
