I was looking through the 1st of 5 licoln penny rolls I got in the mail today and this 1919S stood out due to it seemed thicker than usual and the rims on the obv & rev worth both strong. Please look at the photos and tell me what could have happened to the rev due to only the slightest amount of the wheats showing and the coin isn't bent at all and the obv is perfectly fine. Thank You In Advance !
Do you have a scale, and if so what is the weight. It the weight is on I would say a severly grease filled die.
I am not sure about the "thicker than usual", but my first take was a grease filled die. At this stage, the coin is so worn it will be hard to prove anything.
The coin is a keeper. I agree with the rest. It looks like something was on the reverse die during the strike but it will be hard to prove what it was. The coin is a keeper.
My mom has been trying to get me to save my money for years and finally I have found a way , even if it is 1 penny at a time
I finally got a scale and it is one of those Redding Reloader scales for weighing gun powder. So the penny weighs exactly 48 grains , which converts to 3.11034768 grams. So this coin weighs correctly ( I guess ).
