Trivia question. Which movies are the following lines taken from... 1) Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges. 2) Badges? We don't need no stinking badges. ***** I digress though. Here's some Mexican Gold... My favorite Mexico coin design is the 50 Peso... General question about these coins...is there anyway to tell if the coin is one of the restrikes or an original? Please share your stinkin' Mexican Gold!!!
From a Cheech and Chong movie. Amazing set. I always wanted a 20 pesos coin, but will settle for 2 for coins.
2. Blazing Saddles. As far as restrikes, you can tell by the date of the coin like dos pesos coins in 1945, all restrikes. The Viente gold piece 1959, all restrikes but I don't know anything more than that.
Good! That's the movie one of the quotes is from...which quote? The quotes are from different movies (it might have helped if I was clearer about that).
Sorry, but I don't understand. The 2 pesos were "originally" dated and minted in '19, '20, and '44 thru '48. The restrikes are dated 1945 and were minted from 1951 thru 1972. So there is an "original" '45 (minted in '45) and the restrike '45s (minted in '51 thru '72). Similar situation with the 20 peso (and the other denominations too).
Quote from movie: Badges, We Don't need no stinking badges. Blazing Saddles. Blazing Saddles? A little cortizone cream should clear that up.
Sure, I'll show ya my stinkin' gold... I have the full series except for the big 50 Pesos (no pictures). The Two Pesos that I have was the first gold coin that I ever purchased - I paid $30.00 for it and I considered that disturbingly expensive at the time.
All the coins shown here by our members are just stunning. I held a 1947 50-peso piece many years ago and it was just incredible to behold.
