I just found this 1957 D with a die crack along the neck and one along the front of the jacket.

It more likely a die clash with abnormalities in those two areas.

It looks like it is a continuation of one die crack along the front of the coat.

The areas in question are clashes with die chips the neckmclash is one of many pup on ddo/ddr's.
Die cracks are funny things...they hide, and travel at times ,remember that depending on the die state, they may or may not be visible.

If you look very closely it does look like a continuation, therefore I agree with @Inspector43. Good eye OP, thanks for sharing.

It seems to me that die clashes have more uniformity. This is jagged and varies in height from the surface while remaining in the continuation of the crack along the coat front.

However, it is a great subject for discussion. And no matter what label it ends up it is a great piece. Thanks for the feedback.

Alurids was hard to see, so I posted this one from Maddieclashes.
That is definitely a N clash.

The jacket looks like it was re-engraved.

As you can see behind the head, and other areas on the obverse, the coin has been lapped to try and remove the evidence. that would easily make the details jagged or not uniform.

By lapped do you mean the coin or the die?

The die, lapped is pretty much the same as a die polishing.

With all the discussion above, is it safe to say that the circled line might be the top of the T in cents? It looks possible, but is it too far to the right? 220208155722501.jpg
