A 1990-S graded by IGS as a Proof-70 Deep Cameo. It’s a pretty coin and like I said in my other thread, the price was right.
I almost had a heart attack, thinking the grading system had changed and no one told me. Proof-79. LOL I know, the 9 and 0 are too close together for my fingers too.
Well, glad that's resolved, but there is (what looks like) a live gnat on the outside-obverse of the slab. Can we confirm that...?
There is a guy in my local club who has consigned these things to the auction regularly. They are always in PCGS or NGC slabs. As an old collector, they draw my attention because in the old days (1960s) a Proof Deep Cameo silver coin was rather important. Then I pinch myself and are reminded that all of these modern Proof coins are Deep Cameo. It would be unlikely that any of them would not have that look. There is nothing special about them. Here's a 1961 Proof dime that is in my type set. If you are going to buy these pieces, you might as well get it in a first rate holder rather than messing with these fly by night guys.
There should be no problem at $5 buck. When I find these moderns in less than desireable and agree with them. I snag them up for 2-3 bucks. $5 thats a pretty good profit. I have them in SGS, PCI, NGS, and a few others.
