I suppose being a bit off center turns censoring into what some older people my remember as a smallpox scar??? Caracalla, Pautalia
    pm1310bb2100.jpg

This Gordian of Marcianopolis is even a little more off center but so worn that it required no censoring.

I assume you know that one is from 'Emesa' with VICTOR reverse. They are not rare but should be noted on the labels.

You do realize that Domna issued a lot of types other than the common Venus but no one starts a thread on them. I do have more Venus coins because they were what was issued during the first period of the reign which is my main interest. It does seem odd that all of the later coins seem quite conservative in dress.

To stay in this thread's spirit, don't you think Fortuna's page 3 could make this denarius another British-related coin?

No but's about it, this thread is totally tongue in cheek observation. Just saying:pompous:.

It is hard to go wrong with 3 Graces -
I have two of the same coin. I saw the second one in a live auction and bought it on a whim.

I’m a little late to this party, but here is my “well rounded” Athena:

    Menander I r. c. 165/55-130 B.C.
    AR Drachm, 15.71mm x 2.5 grams
Obv.: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ / ΜΕΝΑΝΔΡΟΥ (King Savior / Menander). Diademed bust of Menander right
Rev.: / (Maharajasa tratarasa / Menamdrasa). Athena Promachos standing left brandishing thunderbolt and aegis, monogram right

Just in last week, an upgrade...I like the weary, pensive portrait:

Julia Domna - Sest. Venus rear Feb 2022 (0).jpg
    Julia Domna Æ Sestertius
    (193-196 A.D.)
    Rome Mint

IVLIA DOMNA AVG draped bust right / [VENERI VICTRI] S C, Venus, naked to waist, standing left from behind, apple in r. hand, palm over shoulder, left elbow resting on column
    RIC IV Septimius Severus 842;
    Cohen 195; BMC 488.
    (21.27 grams / 28 x 26 mm)
    eBay Feb. 2022

Better than this one (obverse die match?):

Julia Domna - Venus butt July 2018 (4x).jpg
