Is this true doubling and is it worth anything? Underneath the CENT on the coin? If it is true doubling I’ll send pics of the whole coin.
Strong radial flow lines show a deteriorated die, and when the letters/numbers on the periphery start to spread toward the rim it is another clue to die deterioration
Hmmm, never thought about radial flow lines on a zinc cent before. Is that possible with just a copper plating? I tend to think of lines as more of a plating issue.
My thoughts are that flow lines from a non worn die are almost invisible and are the luster you see. As the metal moves from the outside to the centre to fill the largest incuse areas of the die, then as the die wears the flow lines should become more visible even on a plated coin. JMHO
