Today, my probable last purchase in awhile arrived in my mail box. My favorite animal is the noble, spotted, towering giraffe. Besides some random bullion pieces, I've never seen a coin depicting the magnificent beast...until last week. That is when I laid my eyes upon the beautiful 1/2 Penny of Rhodesia and Nyasaland. Not only did it feature my favorite altitudinous even-toed ungulate - it had 2! Double the pleasure, double the fun! I now will share this beautiful golden coin of the tallest living terrestrial animal on Earth. 1958 Rhodesia And Nysaland 1/2 Penny, 2.4 million minted. Let's go on a safari. Add whatever coins you have featuring safari animals. Let's see if we can fill the CT Zoo.
You have enough of a zoo at home...... and you want to start one here? Now if you started to build an Ark in the back yard....well thats normal for a 19 year navy seaman.
Nice! I like you, love coins depicting wildlife/ here is my AR 25 Shilingi from Tanzania. Tanzania was part of the 24 Countries that struck coins for endangered animals back in 1974 Each member had 1 gold (size/weight of US Double Eagle) and two Crown sized silver coins.
Here is the gold one....Cheetah fastest cat on planet. Well not quite/ my Thundercat snowmobile does 0-100mph in 4 seconds.
Cheetah is my 2nd favorite animal so this is a great coin. I will never afford the gold but I will have to look for the silver ones!
Nice condition To compare I just checked my South Africa 1/2d from 1953 but it features a ship. The 1/4d from 1953 features 2 Cape Sparrows I've definitely got some stamps with giraffes somewhere

Let the Hunting begin! (Hope your wife won't want to hang me lol
I only saw the colorized ones for sale when I was looking. I see some non-colored ones on ebay but the premiums are steep.
I hear ya about the premiums. I usually only purchase collector coins when I catch a sale on them. But I have purchased a few on impulse buys lol I gotta be honest.
