Yes, 1982 is my son’s birth year. I have collected many coins of his year. The latest two are a 1982 Lincoln Cent 7 variety set, which is kinda cool, and very inexpensive. All of the coins are at least solid 64s to gem condition. The other coin is another 1982 Philadelphia mint JFK. Since that is one of the more difficult dates in high grade, I got another one. It has some golden toning, and nice surfaces (scuff is on the slab, and will be polished out). To me, it looks more 67, than 66, but that is just fine, anyway.
I guess it was a good year for me, too, for reasons that aren't entirely unrelated to yours. Ah, college life.

Congratulations! 1982 was also the year that the stock market stopped trending sideways, which it had been doing since the latter 1960's. After 1982 the prevailing stock market trend was upwards.
