1971 S grading question

Good morning,
My question is if you come across a circulated coin that appears to be a higher grade than what is shown on PCGS do you send it in or get a second or third opinion from other coin dealers if you are a novice? I have this 1971 S 1c that to me shows its luster and minimal contact but the toning although light gives it a deeper red than proof I used to compare it to in pic but I don't know much . I had this coin up before and was informed it might be a double struck. Would that potentially give it a lower grade?Thanks for any help.

Not a Double Stuck just Die Deterioration Doubling. Not sure how if it was a Doubled Die Obverse. Nahh it shouldn't matter. Your Welcome.

Die Deterioration doubling on the 1971 S
Worthless doubling. A mint mark can't be doubled die because in 1971 they were hand punched into the obverse die.
And I see nothing that shows it was double struck which by the way has nothing to do with a Doubled die variety issue if that's what your thinking.

Now about grading on your coins. I don't know.
I'm not a grader

 

You will need much better images to get good answers on the grade. The close up images are great but that's not enough.

 

If you want opinions, you have to take the picture prior to putting it in a 2X2.
Or a flip

 

Definitely not double struck or a double die, there is machine doubling or die deterioration doubling,

However, Are we all sure this isn't a repunched mintmark? the S look sus, but could be the pictures.

I'm no expert, everything I look at on Variety Vista I think that looks like it, are proofs. I don't think this is a circulated proof though....

 

Double(d) dieyou probably just forgot but that extra d is important.

 

Just my opinion, but having any coin graded, paying the fees for such, I would make sure the value of it was about twice the costs or it wouldn't be worth it to me. JMHO.

 

Thanks for all the input everyone. I included more pics and hope they help. Having no knowledge of how coins my thinking in having it graded is not the increase in value. More the pride in finding one that maybe a higher grade discovery coin. Took pics of the edge so it can be verified as circulated. And hope pic of mm can be confirmed as an RPM.

There are obvious signs of circulation on your coin even thru the flip.

Nice coin for a Dansco or a folder, but not worth the fees to have it graded.

 

Yeah auto correct doesn't like the extra D at the end of the word. I have to go back and fix it to doubled or it changes it to double every time.
