Welcome to the forum actually it's a Morgan Silver Dollar, common date as well, nice to have for sure!
A nice looking Morgan Dollar. Last date for them. It looks to be in XF condition but so many of them were made it doesn’t bring higher prices. A definite keeper. Did you receive that as a tip?
Well, fellow members, I went to PCGS Photograde for Morgan Dollars. Based on the flattened hair above the ear, they show the closest match at AU55, but their example has too much hair flattening. Their AU58 shows very faint flattening. So I extrapolate the OP’s coin @AnitaMore is between, either AU56 or 57. Having been burned in the grading arena many times, I appreciate other members’ skill and experience. For me, without the coin in hand, Photograde is one of the best comparison tools we have to work with, keeping in mind it is just a guide. Please note, while you are raking me over the coals, that TPG Market Grading is not part of this conversation. I am always open to constructive criticism…Spark
Yeah, it looks wiped some. See the dirt they couldn't get off clinging to the outline of the profile. Still a nice technical EF.
No, my friends have surprised me a few times. They know I'd hammer their fingers if they let something like this through them!
I can see how this date could cause some confusion as 1921 is the only year when both Morgan and Peace dollars were minted
In this grade range, the amount and quality of the remaining luster is a big factor. Photos can be hard to decipher, and people read them differently, thus some of the spread in opinions. MHO, anyway.
