Bob, I have the utmost respect for your coins, so I am flattered to be asked about mine. To keep from hijacking the thread much further, here we go! The coins were almost all acquired raw from eBay. Most had terrible pictures that I had to interpret to see that a nice coin might be hiding behind a bad photo. (Yes, some were from Mike’s Mountain Values.) I have some graded ones that are not as good as the raw ones. They are still in their holders (mostly) instead of broken out for the album. I am going post the prices too. I am not bragging; I want to show that diligent searching can really get you a nice collection. These were acquired within just the past few years, but before COVID drove the prices crazy. These are: 1911 raw $48 1911-D raw $67 1911-S MS64 PCGS $250 1912 raw $99 1912-D PCGS AU58 BN $133 1912-S raw $110 1913 raw $80.50 1913-D raw $200 1913-S raw $179 1914 raw $66 1914-D raw $740.24. I had to clean off a lot of grime to reveal the nice coin. 1914-S ANACS MS64 BN $370 1915 raw $156 1915-D raw $120 1915-S raw $137.50 1916 raw $16.50 1916-D raw $144 1916-S raw $84.50 An intriguing note - my 1912 in the album picture shows nasty corrosion developing, leading me to try to replace it. This was before I got the Intercept Shield album. A few weeks ago I looked again and the corrosion is gone! 5 Stars for the album!
Ron, you picked up some real winners with some great prices. Tough to find those good deals on eBay these days. I had thought the coins you posted in this thread were from Mikes Mountain Values. Very interesting that your 1912’s corrosion disappeared after using the Intercept Shield album. Makes it worth its weight in gold. Keep posting those beautiful Lincoln’s. I have seen nothing but quality in the ones you’ve shared.
Thanks, Bob. I wish I could have afforded the 1916 Proof from the original post. That would be a jewel in anyone’s collection. The coins I got from Mike’s Mountain Values that I posted first varied in price. I think you will be able to spot which one I got after he started having them graded and folks started following his site: 1910: $20.76 1912: $120.50 1916: $16.50 1920-D: $87.78 1920-S: $102.50 1925-D: $71.00 1928-S: $70.99
I still have the MPL’s (minus the VDB) and the toned 1936-58 set. https://www.pcgs.com/setregistry/ha...-basic-set-proof-1909-1958/publishedset/50684
