Well, maybe this company should build up a little feedback before offering quarter million dollar coins.
I don't think they care since their primary avenue of sales is through their own website. This company is not new and they do not deal in small value items. I think this thread is what they were looking to accomplish. To get numismatic buyers who were not aware of Rare Coin Wholesalers to find out about them. I am very surprised at the number of people on this forum who have not heard of them. I really think they are using the E-Bay venue as advertising and not so much as an avenue for sales. I could be wrong. Maybe someone should e-mail them and see what they say.
I've heard of them, but anyone can establish a name on eBay without being associated with them. I did not do the time to research the company, as I was not interested in bidding. I take Paul's word that they're legit, and I have heard of a company by that name. That being said, I can go on eBay and register the name KingFarouk, but that doesn't mean I actually have extremely rare proofs for sale.
While it is possible that someone has decided to pirate their name, address, and inventory on E-Bay, I find it extremely unlikely.
I have thousand of feedbacks so my account was never flagged. My brother sold one of his racing bikes that he no longer uses. The bike sold for $3200 and the person paid right after the auction ended. My brothers account was flagged and he had to ship the bike with out even getting any money for shipping. It cost over $200 to ship the bike. Paypal didn't release his fund for 16 days. The guy got the bike on the 4th day and left very positive feedback. So it took about 20 days before my brother got his money put into his checking account.
Multiplied by the number of flagged accounts, these kind of short-term, no-interest loans to PayPal could be quite a revenue stream for them. I wouldn't be surprised if the algorithm for who gets flagged includes a minimum amount of flagged money needed per quarter to stabilize this short-term loan revenue stream. In case we're in a backlash to big-government regulation, let's not forget in the kinds of ways bankers will dream up of edited you.
Legitimate gets you over the first hurtle. You still need a face to face with coins in those price ranges.
