I'll take a shot. I think it's a copy. I haven't been able to find a reverse configuration that matches the size and placement of the arrows in any of the books that I have. (I don't collect this series and so have very limited information available to me.).

That is a very astute observation for a non-series collector. :secret:

 

I would say the bottom one is fake. I just noticed the angle on the sheild on the obverse and the size of the beak on the obverse. I have no clue so if I'm wrong I tried .

 

I'm still with my guess but it's just that. With pictures on a computer screen and not knowing the series it's my best guess

If NGC were going to authenticate this coin, I believe you would have received it by now as you stated you had submitted the coin a while back, and that was prior to 12/23/09. Update please.

I guess getting involved in these contests is a more of a waste of time then anything. The last one I was in , I got 3rd place and was supposed to get something, never recieved it. Will we ever know the grade of this coin? I doubt it.

Don't get discouraged. They don't usually turn out like this. I have won a couple contests, and always recieved my prize. I have also held several contests, and always delivered. Unfortunatley, this was one contest that I suspected might be bogus from the get go. I hope I'm wrong though, and that we find out eventually.

Unfortunately, I think that happens more often than folks realize. Since I've been on here, I've won four different contests and received prizes for only two of them. The other two contest holders stiffed me on the promised prize. If I don't receive a prize I won I will PM the contest holder and inquire. If he/she does not reply back then I simply drop the matter. I look at it like this: I entered the contest for free, and although I did invest some time and effort, it didn't really cost me much to participate. If someone promises a prize and doesn't deliver on it for whatever reason then they are the ones that are the real losers of their contest. A person is only as good as their word in this life. It's an interesting topic you have raised that, surprisingly, I've not yet seen discussed. It makes me wonder how many CoinTalker's on here have won contests and never received their promised prizes. I hope I haven't just opened up a can of worms with this.
