One of my favorite vignettes from the Canadian Banknote Company... Ordered a few and they arrived today.... You just gotta love the train. RickieB
Thanks for sharing , Rickie , love all the old vignettes , trains , plains , boats and the women . rzage
Yeah You have to admit the Canadian paper has really nice vignettes. I live on the Candian border ( actually I am married to a Canadian) and get exposed to alot of older paper money. Some I buy some and some I let go as Iam not up on the prices of Canadian paper money. Nice post.. always interesting. Jerry
Jerry ... how ya been my friend?? Burrr. it's cold up there I am sure! My son loves trains as you know and what a really nice vignette they have done. You or anyone can find them here http://www.cbnco.com/collect/collect-about.php Good to see you again.. RickieB
Hey, thanks for posting the picture and link for this. My dad is a huge train nut, so this will make a perfect birthday gift for him.
Nice. Speaking of trains, their is a local train show in two weeks. Thinking about getting a UP setup in HO or a O gauge Lionel. Who here likes trains and knows a little about them?
The Canadian Bank Note Co. Very Nice job and they will Matte & Frame if you want to pay the extra. http://www.cbnco.com/collect/collect-about.php Here are a few I really like ! I just wish they would give the Engravers names and when they were engraved.I'll look in The International Bak Note Engravers Boob by Gene Hessler, maybe their in their. All vignettes images above are the prorerty of the CBNCo
RickieB: I thought when I opened this thread I was going to see some "CH CU notes" I always think Choo Choo as in the onomatopoeia of an old steam train when I see that currency grade abbreviation. LOL! The CBNCo have a lot of great vignettes. I've gone to that site and looked over them extensively. I love the train vignettes they offer. I too wish they'd list more specific information about the engraver, date engraved, if/when these were every used or intended for use. The who/what/when of the subject matter... I know in another thread we tried to figure this out but I hadn't heard back from anyone yet if they'd contacted CBNCo to inquire. The train posted in this thread is fantastic with a really nice sense of illustration. I also like the indian chief and bison but for some reason the patterns in the engraving, like the backgrounds, the check/arms of the indian, the fur of the bison seem somehow more mechanical in nature. That is, as if each mark on the plate was not made by hand engraving but rather a type of engraving deduced from a posterized image and reproduced on a plate by a plotter that engraves. Maybe it is hand engraved but the image was digitally worked on before the design put on the plate and engraved. There's just something I can sense about the style of the image that feels different. But they are nonetheless great engraved images.
Toy trains are fantastic. I haven't been into toy trains for years. Small scale HO and N gauge is all I ever had the space for. I used to be quite into building scenery, towns, landscapes, track plans, etc. when I was very young. Sort of feel off after high school and I moved around for college. Though I used to put up trains classically under the Christmas tree, go to train shows and look at all the awesome Lionels and the model RR they'd set up at shows. Cool stuff. I was mostly into trains because of family who also admired model trains and gave me gifts of train sets. Plus I knew a few family members who worked their entire careers for some of the great old train lines, so it was just something that was present growing up.
Rickie my friend I was seriously concerned when I seen the title of this thread LOL but it realy is a lovely bit of work, and Connor a couple more lovely pieces :thumb:
