I like it. Probably not very valuable just don't see it very often. Do you have any idea what it is worth?
It's a worn die issue. No major premium. Only what a collector of such an issue is willing to pay for it.
I usually keep the coins that are "oddities" in in collection (2x2) as educational pieces. They make great learning items for those new to collecting.
I call that section of my collection mysteries. Never going to know what happened but it is a good part of it. It has to be unique or odd to make it there. Thanks Mountain Man
It's a coin that a guy in prison (here in NJ, I know the guy) sanded down to make the time go by faster, but the guy lost his psyche and stopped for some reason after doing only half of one side.
struck through grease, maybe cloth, not a lamination, and not a trial test strike, the circumference will be a bit smaller (sometimes) and the weakness of strike will be on both sides..imho
Much appreciated. You'll probably laugh but it is one of my favorite coins just because it was the second error that I had found that jumped out at me and I knew something was wrong but had no idea what. I know it's not worth more than a few bucks but I kick around the idea of grading and have it encased just for me and to pass on to my son when I'm gone lol. I'm a procrstinater to so I'll keep kicking it around. Thanks!!
DON'T GET THE WRONG IDEA, I HAVE PAId upwards of 20.00 sometimes when they are like this..it is a very nice error, imho
